Shape tone and add space
Combine EQ with echo or reverb while leaving room for the effect tail.
Set the tone first
Select a short representative passage. Use Process → Bass and Treble… for broad changes, or Graphic EQ… for individual bands and presets. Preview, and adjust the output gain so a louder result does not disguise an unwanted change in tone.
Apply when it sounds right, and keep the same passage selected for the next effect.
Choose echo or room ambience
Use Echo… for distinct repeats or Reverb… for a room-like decay. Start from a reverb preset, then adjust wet gain and pre-delay. Leave Wet only off unless you want to lose the dry sound.
Both effects stop at the selection end. If a one-second sound needs a longer tail, place the cursor after it, insert silence with Generate → Silence…, then select the sound and the silence together before applying.
Listen through the tail
After applying, play beyond the end of the original sound. If the tail is cut short, undo, add more silence, widen the selection, and apply again. If the level is too high, reduce the wet or dry gain before reapplying.
Save the project and export the passage including its tail. A six-second preview may not contain a long decay, so use timeline playback to judge the full result.
