Time selections and selected regions
Drag across the waveform to select time; Shift-click extends the selection and dragging either edge adjusts it. The selection toolbar accepts exact Start and End times in seconds and shows the length. To work with whole regions instead, click a region tile in the overview strip, and Shift-click to add more. Edit → Select All (Cmd/Ctrl+A) selects the whole project.
For most Process effects, a time selection takes priority, then selected regions, then all audio when nothing is selected. Each effect dialog names its target before you apply.
Cut, copy, paste, and trim
Edit → Cut (Cmd/Ctrl+X) removes the selected time and stores it on the clipboard; Copy (Cmd/Ctrl+C) keeps the original. Paste (Cmd/Ctrl+V) inserts the clipboard audio at the cursor, inside the region under it; when the project is empty, the clipboard becomes a new region. Delete Audio (Delete or Backspace) removes audio without touching the clipboard, and Trim to Selection (Cmd/Ctrl+T) keeps the selection and removes everything around it.
Removing time closes the gap on this sequential timeline. Use Process → Silence Audio to keep the duration with quiet samples instead, or Generate → Silence… to add new quiet time.
Split, merge, and create regions
Every imported file and recording is a region. Edit → Split (Cmd/Ctrl+I) divides the audio at the cursor, or at both edges of a time selection so the selected span becomes its own region; the floating Create region button does the same. Press S to split at the cursor without a modifier.
Select neighbouring regions in the overview strip and choose Merge to rejoin them. Merge is offered when the regions came from the same source, still meet where they were split, and share the same gain and direction. Delete in the same menu, or Edit → Delete Region, removes whole regions.
Arrange, trim, and shape regions
To move a passage, select its time, choose Cut, place the cursor where it belongs, and Paste. To add audio in a particular place, put the cursor there before Insert Local File… or choose Insert at start or Append to end when dropping a file. Drag a region’s trim handles to shorten it or to restore audio hidden by an earlier trim.
Select a region and press Region properties in the transport bar to set its gain from 0 to 2, its fade-in and fade-out lengths in seconds, and, for regions with a detected beat grid, the BPM and beat offset. The round handles at each region edge adjust the same fades by dragging. Region edits never change the source file; undo and redo compare versions, and Save Project keeps the arrangement.
