Install the editor, understand what autosave does and does not protect, and keep copies you can always reopen.

Install once, open anywhere on this device
In a supported browser, use the install option in the address bar or menu, or Add to Home Screen on a phone. The installed app opens in its own window, keeps working offline for local editing after its first online load, and updates itself when you are online and the editor is idle.
Cloud files and transcription still need a connection. Everything else, including recording and export, runs on your device.
Know what autosave covers
The editor writes your project to this browser’s storage a couple of seconds after every change, and reopening the site restores it. That protects you from a closed tab or a crash. It does not protect you from clearing site data, switching browsers or devices, private windows, or running out of storage, and it holds one project at a time: choosing File → New Project or opening another file replaces it.
Keep copies you control
- Choose File → Save Project… (Cmd/Ctrl+S) at the end of each session and give the file a date, such as
interview-2026-09-12.aeproject. The file holds the audio, edits, labels, and transcript. - Export a WAV or MP3 when a version is worth listening to outside the editor.
- If you use Puter, Export to Cloud keeps a copy in your drive.
To continue on another device, open the saved project with File → Open Project…. If the autosaved project ever fails to return, open your most recent project file rather than clearing browser data.
