Edit an interview by its words
Use transcription and cut previews to remove mistakes while preserving natural joins.

Get the words onto the timeline
Open your recording and choose View → Transcript…. Pick a model and a language, or leave Auto-detect, and press Transcribe. Transcription runs through Puter online and may ask you to sign in. If you imported a Voice Recorder take with a transcript, start by checking that text against the audio.
Save a project copy after transcription so the words are kept with the audio.
Remove one mistake first
- Click a word to move the cursor there, then drag across the mistaken phrase, or double-click the first word and Shift-click the last.
- Press Space to listen to the selected audio and check the boundaries on the waveform.
- Choose Edit → Preview Cut to hear the join before deleting.
- Press Backspace to delete the words. The cut edges settle into nearby pauses so the join lands between words. Listen again and undo if a breath or consonant was lost.
Ordinary cuts, splits, and trims keep the remaining words anchored to their sound.
Review fillers as a separate pass
The filler bar counts supported fillers such as “um” and “uh.” Press Review to step through them and decide each with Remove or Skip, or press Remove all to delete them together as one undoable step. Listen to the edited pacing; undo the batch if the speech becomes too abrupt.
For long pauses, use Process → Truncate Silence… separately. A transcript cannot tell you whether a pause is expressive, so listen before shortening. Close the transcript when you need Paste or Reverse, then save and export.
