Effects and analysis
Echo and reverb
Add discrete repetitions or room ambience with control over the dry and wet sound.
Add evenly spaced repeats
Choose Process → Echo… and set the delay between repeats and the decay factor. A decay of 0.5 halves each repeat, 1 keeps them at the same level, and values above 1 make them grow, so watch the level. Presets offer 0.1, 0.25, and 0.5 second delays.
Echo keeps the selected duration and stops at the selection end rather than adding time. To hear later repeats, generate silence after the sound and include it in the selection.
Place sound in a room
Process → Reverb… offers Vocal ambience, Small bright room, Warm room, Large hall, and Cathedral presets. Room Size sets the reflection spacing, Pre-delay separates the dry sound from the reverb, and Reverberance and Damping shape the length and brightness of the decay.
Tone Low and Tone High filter the wet signal, Wet and Dry Gain set the balance, and Stereo Width varies the reflections between the two channels; mono stays mono. Wet only removes the dry sound, and the apply button changes to say so.
Keep tails and compare
The dialog shows the unchanged selection length and the approximate tail length. Reverb stops at the selection end, so add and select trailing silence to keep the full tail. Preview plays up to six seconds of the first selected continuous passage and stops when settings change.
Both effects support cancellation, one-step undo, and Repeat Last Effect. Apply at conservative levels and listen past the end of the original sound.
